The GTA strongly supports and continues to advocate for a national approach on self-exclusion, and third-party self-exclusion schemes, underpinned by the added protection of Facial Recognition Technology (FRT).
The GTA has been actively involved in the NSW Government’s gaming reform agenda and supports the improvement of safety standards, consumer protections, and effective regulatory oversight that will come with FRT.
The GTA believes that FRT will be an invaluable tool in enabling the successful implementation and enforcement of broader self-exclusion initiatives.
The GTA understands the critical importance of ensuring the implementation of FRT is not only effective, but also fair and transparent, enduring that careful consideration is given to privacy, data security, and the identification of potential unintended consequences.
The GTA has actively contributed to discussions on the Independent Panel for Gaming Reform, where we have worked closely with government and industry stakeholders to explore how new technologies can best be integrated into the regulatory framework.
